Borough officials have been notified that night work has been scheduled for the Greenwood Ave. Bridge Replacement Project from Monday, May 13, 2013 through Thursday, May 16, 2013. The purpose of this scheduled night work is to complete preparation for the removal of beams related to demolition of the existing bridge. The Borough will continue to notify residents if additional night work is scheduled. Please continue to monitor the project-specific website established by PennDOT for additional updates on this project. The website may be accessed HERE. The contractors for the Greenwood Ave. Bridge Replacement Project have informed Jenkintown Borough that night work has been scheduled from Monday, May 6, 2013 through Thursday, May 9, 2013. This night work has been scheduled in order to facilitate demolition of the existing bridge. PennDOT has also posted an update video and statement of work completed through March 2013 on the website that has been established for the project. You may access the website HERE. Walnut Street will be closed to thru traffic beginning Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from Summit Avenue to Washington Lane and may last through the balance of the week. This closure is related to construction beginning on the Cedar Street to Walnut Street Storm Water Project. Please note that this section of Walnut Street will be open to local traffic during construction and other streets around the project area are open. Residents living in the project area will still have access to their homes during construction. If you have any questions, please contact Borough Hall at 215-885-0700. Jenkintown Police Chief DiValentino will host "Chats with the Chief: Teen Driving" on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the Jenkintown High School Auditorium. This free event will provide parents and teenagers the opportunity to learn about new laws related to graduated licenses and tips for teaching teenagers safe driving practices.
