BRIDGE REPLACEMENT WITH ROUNDABOUT AT JENKINTOWN STATION
I would like to invite you to a presentation by the Pennsylvania Dept. of Transportation concerning the construction of a new bridge over SEPTA at the Jenkintown Station. The report will be presented during the Public Works Committee meeting at Borough Hall on Wednesday, March 11, at 7:30 PM.
PaDOT has proposed construction of a roundabout or traffic circle in place of the existing traffic signal at the intersection of Township Line Rd./Summit Ave./West Ave. (in the area of the Jenkintown Sign) as a part of this project. Since there was considerable resistance when roundabouts were proposed for Traffic Calming at Vista and Vernon and at Newbold and West, residents may want to make PaDOT aware of their feelings on this matter.
During construction the bridge will be closed to traffic and detoured for at least a one year period.
It is hoped that PaDOT will be able to give us a tentative schedule for this work.
